In recent discussions, Bill Gates has projected that advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) could significantly transform professions such as medicine and education within the next decade. He envisions a future where AI-powered tools provide high-quality medical advice and personalized tutoring, potentially addressing shortages of professionals in these fields.

Gates describes this forthcoming era as one of "free intelligence," where expert-level services become widely accessible through AI integration. While he acknowledges the profound benefits, he also expresses concerns about the rapid pace of AI development and its potential to render humans unnecessary for many tasks.

Despite the potential efficiencies AI may introduce, Gates emphasizes that certain human-centric roles, particularly those requiring empathy and nuanced understanding, may remain irreplaceable. He suggests that while AI can enhance various sectors, the human touch in professions like teaching and healthcare remains vital.

With the release of iOS 18.2, Apple has introduced the ability for iPhone users to set third-party applications, such as WhatsApp, as their default messaging and calling apps. This change allows users to initiate calls and send messages via WhatsApp directly from contact links or when tapping phone numbers across various apps.

How to Set WhatsApp as the Default App:

  1. Ensure your iPhone is updated to iOS 18.2 or later.

  2. Update WhatsApp to version 25.8.74 from the App Store.

  3. Navigate to Settings > Apps > Default Apps

  4. Under both the Messaging and Calling sections, select WhatsApp as the default app.

Once configured, actions like tapping a phone number in Safari or selecting the message option in Contacts will default to WhatsApp for communication. This integration streamlines the user experience for those who predominantly use WhatsApp for their communications.

This update reflects Apple's ongoing efforts to provide users with greater flexibility in personalizing their device experience by accommodating preferred third-party applications.

Meta has introduced a revamped "Friends" tab on Facebook, aiming to restore the platform's original focus on personal connections. This update provides users with a feed exclusively displaying content from their friends, including stories, reels, posts, birthdays, and friend requests, eliminating algorithmically recommended content.

Initially available in the United States and Canada, users can access the Friends tab through the navigation bar on their home feed. To pin the tab for easier access:

  1. Click your profile picture in the Home feed.

  2. Select "Settings & Privacy," then "Settings."

  3. Navigate to "Tab bar," choose "Friends," and pin the tab.

This initiative is part of Meta's broader strategy to reintroduce "OG" Facebook experiences throughout the year, emphasizing the importance of social interactions among friends. CEO Mark Zuckerberg highlighted this direction, stating, "The new Friends tab is a throwback to OG Facebook when you only saw friends' status updates."

By prioritizing content from personal connections, Meta aims to enhance user engagement and bring back the joy of meaningful interactions on Facebook.

OpenAI's ChatGPT-4o has recently undergone significant enhancements, narrowing the performance gap with Google's Gemini 2.5 Pro. The updated ChatGPT-4o model now features advanced image generation capabilities, allowing users to create detailed and contextually relevant images directly within the chat interface. This improvement has been particularly well-received, as it addresses previous limitations in visual content creation.

In terms of language processing, ChatGPT-4o has demonstrated notable advancements in handling complex queries and maintaining context over extended interactions. While it previously lagged behind Gemini 2.5 Pro in benchmarks like the LMArena leaderboard, recent updates have propelled ChatGPT-4o to a competitive position, reflecting its enhanced reasoning and comprehension abilities.

Despite these improvements, Gemini 2.5 Pro maintains an edge in certain areas, such as a larger context window and superior performance in specific benchmarks. However, the continuous evolution of ChatGPT-4o signifies OpenAI's commitment to closing the gap and delivering a robust AI experience.

Recent leaks suggest that Apple's upcoming foldable iPhone, often referred to as the "iPhone Fold," will feature an inner display with a 4:3 aspect ratio, aligning with the design of current iPad models.

Key Details:

  • Display Dimensions: The device is rumored to have a 5.5-inch external screen and a 7.8-inch internal folding screen.

  • Aspect Ratio Consistency: Adopting a 4:3 aspect ratio aims to provide consistency between the internal and external displays and ensure compatibility with existing iPad software.

  • Design Features: The foldable iPhone is expected to include a titanium alloy casing and a hinge made of metallic glass, contributing to a crease-free inner screen.

This strategic design choice indicates Apple's intent to offer users a seamless experience between the foldable iPhone and its tablet lineup, enhancing multitasking and app usability.
