OpenAI to launch a brand-new model next week, performance surpassing Gemini 3
Every morning, before I even make my first coffee, I scan through hundreds of tech updates so you don’t have to. Technology moves fast—AI breakthroughs, Apple ecosystem shifts, cybersecurity alerts, productivity hacks—and I’m here to make sure you stay ahead without feeling overwhelmed.
Today’s issue includes a few gems I discovered during my late-night research session, the kind that made me stop and think, “My readers will love this.”
According to recent reports, OpenAI is preparing to release a new large-language model as early as next week. This upcoming model is said to surpass Gemini 3 — the cutting-edge AI from Google — in key performance benchmarks. The news comes amid mounting competitive pressure after Gemini 3’s launch, which reportedly prompted OpenAI leadership to declare an internal “code red.” The new release (internal codename reportedly “Garlic”) seems aimed at reclaiming OpenAI’s edge in generative-AI capabilities. If successful, this move could reshape the near-term landscape of top-tier AI models, reinforcing OpenAI’s position among leading AI developers — and intensifying the broader “AI arms race.”
Chinese startup DeepSeek has officially released version 3.2 of its foundational language model, claiming performance on par with GPT-5 and Google’s Gemini 3.0 Pro. What distinguishes DeepSeek V3.2 is that it’s open-source under the MIT license, meaning anyone can freely access, run, or build upon it — a significant contrast to the typically closed, proprietary models from major tech firms. On benchmark tests including reasoning, math, and coding tasks, the model reportedly reached gold-medal level (comparable to top international contest standards). The result signals a shift in the global AI landscape: open-source models becoming capable rivals to corporate giants. For developers, researchers, and smaller firms, DeepSeek V3.2 may lower the barrier to frontier-class AI.
YouTube has launched its first-ever personalized “Recap” — the 2025 version of a year-end review for video watchers. Rolling out globally this week, Recap compiles up to 12 interactive cards summarizing a user’s top channels, favorite content themes, and how their viewing habits evolved over the year. Much like the “Wrapped” features on music platforms, this new Recap adds a personal and shareable dimension to YouTube usage: you can learn whether you’re a “Skill Builder,” “Dreamer,” or “Connector” based on your watch history. For creators and marketers, Recap offers a new window into viewing behaviors and content trends. For users — it’s a fun, nostalgic way to revisit what defined their 2025 video-watching identity.
Windows 11 is reportedly facing major interface (UI) problems that are affecting a broad number of PCs — and the company behind it, Microsoft, has now publicly acknowledged the mess. The issues stem from cumulative updates rolled out since July 2025 (starting with the 24H2 update), which apparently broke essential components for some users. Functions such as the Start Menu, Taskbar, File Explorer, System Settings, and core shell elements have reportedly been malfunctioning, crashing, or even failing to load entirely for certain setups. This admission is significant — what many users may have dismissed as minor glitches are now recognized as systemic flaws. For PC owners and businesses alike, the instability raises real concerns about reliability and downtime until a proper fix arrives.
